"Like Jacob, as long as we are on this earth we shall keep wrestling with the visible and the invisible, the earthly city and the heavenly city, the natural and the supernatural, the health of the body and the eternal salvation of the soul, the desire to live here below and the hope of going up above, the hunger for bread and the insatiable desire for heaven, the dream of enjoying the seasons of life and the knowledge of entering the one eternal season of the kingdom." - Carlo Carretto
I don’t know where your heart is at this moment or what season of life you are in, but I do know your Jesus gave His life for you and He will never leave you or forsake you. Whether we believe it or not, we are daughters and son of the King. Yes, you are! You have a Kingdom!
Kingdom refers to the state or domain ruled by a king or queen. A kingdom is a governmental unit ruled by a king or queen. And as a Christians, you had been delivered from the temporal world to the eternal Kingdom.
The word “deliver” comes from the word exaireō. It means to rescue. It is used just a few times in the New Testament. It is a word that talks about rescuing someone out of a very dangerous situation.
The death of Christ Jesus on the cross, who gave Himself for our sins, rescued us out of this deadly and dangerous present evil age. Remember what Paul said? Paul says “Jesus Christ went to the cross and through His work on the cross the world is dead to me, and I am dead to the world.”
What does it mean? It simply means that we should not be focusing on the “temporal kingdoms” of this world. These are the ideas values, honors, achievements, accomplishments, and all the stuff that everybody is into – the pleasures and the treasures. It is a reminder not to love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
As we start the year 2015, let’s fix our eyes on the eternal things and not on the temporary ones. Let us all have the desire for eternal Kingdom and not for the passing things of this world.
Let us pray.
Father, thank you for reminding us to be joyful as a new chapter of our like unfolds. Lord, thank you for reminding us through Your Word on what Kingdom should we focus on and invest in. Fix our eyes Lord on the eternal things and not on the temporary things here on Earth for these will pass too.
Lord, we may be poor in the worldly eyes but in Your eyes, we are FAVORED, BLESSED and LOVED. And that’s more than enough. May Your truth be exalted. Take away all those people, things and events in our life that will not benefit us in pursuing Your purpose in us here on Earth. We thank You and praise You for Your glory, in Christ’s name. Amen.
