Every Christian wants a deeper life of prayer in this New Year. We all want to grow, to enjoy richer fellowship with God — the question, though, comes down to who to appeal to. Is the God who we perceived or the real God is?
In Jesus’s name, amen.
We often tack this phrase onto the end of our prayers out of habit. But do we really know whom we were praying to? So often we are wedded to the identity of God that we made of. We based who God is on our blessings that we received and most of the time, on our current situation or struggles we were in.
This is an encouragement to all of us to get to know God more and build a deep relationship with Him. Just like when you were courting someone. You go on a date with her, find time to know her interests and later on, you share with her interests. Same thing goes with God. If we all want to know God, the real God, we study His Word, obey His Word and commit time to have a quiet time with Him.
Today, God reminded me to kindle the fire in our relationship. He is longing for you, for me, for the lost. The invisible God is more visible than you can imagine. Let us all have a heart like C.S. Lewis, when he quoted “I want God, not my idea of God.”
Let us pray.
My Lord, teach us to know more about you. Reveal yourself to us. God, open our spiritual eyes to see the real You and not the God I want you to be. Take away Father the scales in my eyes to see your majesty and glory. Let us see signs and wonders, oh Lord. Let us have a deeper relationship with you. Fill our hearts with You God and so we can declare that only You, only You will satisfy us. We declare God that You our Lord and Savior from this day onward, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
